GOING BACK TO BASICS TO IMPROVE SOLAR SALES

You already know that there's a big market for solar power out there. Last year's record shattering solar adoption numbers should be enough proof to reassure any solar manufacturer or installer that they're on the right path.

But if yours is like many solar businesses, then you may be left scratching your head, wondering why the world isn't beating a path to your business's door. After all, you're selling a game-changing product. Solar power diminishes our dependence on fossil fuels, reduces our environmental impact, and ends up paying for itself, providing adopters with substantial long-term energy savings, not to mention tax rebates and incentives for going solar. So why isn't your phone ringing more often? Why isn't your inbox inundated with eager clients?

THE REASONS BEHIND THE NUMBERS

According to many experts in the solar industry, the reason why residential solar power isn't usurping market share at a faster rate is that installers simply aren't that good at selling it. Perhaps your firm is an exception to this rule, but if you're still reading, then we're guessing you wouldn't mind having a few more prospects to work with.

Now, there are many ways to gain new solar energy prospects. Conducting your own marketing online can be effective, if you're able to gain the necessary exposure. Creating mutually beneficial relationships with companies that share similar target demographics can also be beneficial, as can incentivizing current clients when they provide referrals. Partnering with a reputable solar lead provider to purchase high quality solar leads can also add substantial volume to your sales pipeline.

BUT HAVE YOU CONSIDERED DOOR-TO-DOOR SOLAR SALES?

If you're like many solar providers, the answer to that question may be a resounding, "No!" After all, you're not selling magazines or vacuum cleaners, nor are you trying to get people to switch cable providers. You're providing a legitimately valuable and revolutionary offering that really should be able to sell itself.

The practice of selling door-to-door has a stigma attached to it; there's no denying that. But maybe it's time solar providers take another look at adding this good, old-fashioned sales method to their repertoires.

SPREADING THE SUNSHINE, ONE DOORBELL AT A TIME

So, why should you consider telling your sales team to suit up and pound the pavement to make more quality solar sales?

First of all, people actually like face-to-face interactions. That might not seem like the case if you're selling something they have no interest in hearing about, but if you're offering a product or service that they have already been considering on their own, then they're sure to be all ears.

And lots of people "are "considering going solar. They're aware that solar power exists and they're interested, but they, like most of us, have mile-long to-do lists, and urgent tasks tend to relegate important but less pressing matters (such as going solar) to the bottom of the list. They may also still be under the impression that adopting solar power is a financial sacrifice only made by those who are willing and able to cough up the extra cash in order to help save the environment.

Imagine their surprise when an honest-to-goodness solar expert shows up at the door, ready and eager to answer all their questions, assess their home's viability as a solar site, and alleviate their financial concerns by illustrating the clear financial benefits of getting one's energy from the sun. Throw in your awareness and clear explanations regarding incentives, tax rebates, and solar financing options, and you'll have a brand new sale on your hands in no time.

Door-to-door solar sales can be extremely effective because it consolidates the steps the average consumer might take before going solar. A skilled sales rep can take a consumer from stranger to suspect, prospect to sale all within the span of an evening. And even if the deal doesn't close on the first interaction, potential clients will remember the relationships they've established with their friendly, neighborhood solar sales expert when they are ready to make the leap.

Beyond that, however, it's still very wise to always consider the value of getting help from other solar professionals outside your normal sphere of influence. We're talking about purchasing high quality solar leads from a reputable leads provider like RGR Marketing. We've been in the business for many years, and we know that not everyone is comfortable with face to face, door to door sales strategies, especially in the Internet era. Sometimes it's just easier to reach out over the telephone, and if that's the case, then purchasing sales leads still remains the best jumping off point for you and your solar installation business to get more qualified prospects.

Dont Blow Back On Wind Power

Dont Blow Back On Wind Power
"From an editorial in the Wisconsin State Journal:"

More government regulation and tighter restrictions?

That's the wrong path for Wisconsin to take on promising wind energy projects.

Gov. Scott Walker and the Legislature should instead stick with the reasonable and uniform rules that the state Public Service Commission has approved.

Wisconsin is already falling behind its neighbors in the push to use wind as a clean, renewable energy source. At the same time, Wisconsin imports a huge portion of its power from out of state.

That's why the PSC was smart to adopt standard rules for siting smaller wind operations as well as bigger wind farms. The PSC, after listening to public testimony, health experts and industry officials, wisely streamlined and replaced a hodgepodge of local restrictions.

The PSC standards now protect public health and safety while permitting well-designed wind farms on appropriate sites. Besides more home-grown energy, Wisconsin gains jobs related to the manufacturing of parts for turbines. Farmers also benefit from the additional income they receive for allowing turbines of varying size on their land.

Walker's welcome mantra since his election last fall has been that Wisconsin is "open for business." But Walker's proposal for more regulation and restrictions on wind projects runs counter to that promise.

Say you're a small town looking to add some green energy options to your city. You could invest in good old wind or solar power, or in the case of one Spanish town, you could just ask your citizens to flush their toilets. That's the concept behind Chiclana de la Frontera's sewage treatment plant, which is the world's first plant that will be used to convert sewage into renewable biofuel.

Will Solar Raise My Property Taxes

Will Solar Raise My Property Taxes
In most places, no. But it depends on where you live and how they appraise for property tax purposes. In Ohio (where we are) there are protections in place - Ohio has two solar property tax exemptions for solar electric systems: one for up to 250 kilowatts, and a payment in lieu of property tax for systems greater than 250 kW. (250kW is a large, commercial-scale system - it would certainly not fit on any house I've ever lived in!) In June 2010, Ohio enacted legislation granting these exemptions from public utility tangible and real property taxes. Prior to this exemption, property taxes were cited as a major barrier for renewable-energy deployment in Ohio, as a renewable-energy facility that sold electricity to a third party was considered a "public utility" for tax purposes. In Cleveland and Cincinnati, they actually abate property taxes for adding green energy like solar. More than 30 U.S. states (and Puerto Rico) offer some form of property tax incentive for solar installations. In the majority of these states, the incentive follows a simple model that excludes the added value of solar-energy equipment in the valuation of the property for taxation purposes. Although most property tax incentives do not have an expiration date, a handful of states allow the tax break only for a limited period, ranging from five years in Iowa and North Dakota to 25 years in Hawaii. With a few exceptions, these policies apply to all sectors, and both to solar-thermal systems and solar-electric systems (and passive solar, in some cases). Some states specify that a system must produce energy for on-site use to qualify. In addition, several states authorize, but do not require, local governments to provide property tax incentives for solar. New Hampshire, for example, allows cities and towns to offer exemptions from local property taxes for certain renewables. The Office of Energy and Planning web site lists more than 80 municipalities that offer the exemption for one or more types of renewable-energy systems. New York's exemption, on the other hand, is valid unless a local government opts out of the exemption, as opposed to the more common practice of requiring governments to opt in to grant an exemption. Other states with a "local option" policy include Alaska, Colorado, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia. Maryland, which requires a solar property tax exemption, allows counties to offer a property tax credit for solar systems for up to three years. Several counties in Maryland now offer such credits. Due to the recent growth in large-scale solar and other renewables, a few states have developed separate policies for utility-scale renewables to preserve at least a portion of property tax revenue for local governments, or to assess such systems at a value comparable to a non-renewable energy facility. Arizona, Colorado, Montana and Nevada provide a partial abatement of property tax attributable to the solar facility using various assessment methods. Customer-sited installations, on the other hand, qualify for a full exemption in Arizona, Montana and Nevada, and, if authorized by the applicable local government, in Colorado. North Carolina's property tax incentive, established in 1977, stipulates that solar heating and cooling systems not be assessed at more than the value of a conventional system. In 2008, North Carolina created a new incentive for solar-electric systems by exempting 80% of the appraised value of the system from property tax. In California, they do not allow property tax increases resulting from adding solar (California Revenue and Taxation code codified this change in section 73, way back in 1980). Other tax jurisdictions vary. Thanks to dsireusa.org and the U.S. Dept. of Energy for this info. The post Will Solar Raise My Property Taxes? appeared first on Ohio Farm Solar.

Replacing Rooftops

In the protect of a sloped roof aim for a nominal of R40 or, more willingly, R50. Casing energy not reach its radical upshot in an roof space determined unless the roof space is exactly conserved and a incessant vapour ring has been installed. For a yet roof aim for a nominal of R30. This may not unendingly be viable in the same way as of other structural issues such as rooftop procedural accommodation, roof saturation points and outcrop pinnacle, but it is worth mentioning to recount your contractor to netting as uplift a put in the bank as realistic. Cultivate savings can be achieved by using light coloured shingles, cope with coatings or soil. These possessions meditate heat over summer months a bit as a consequence engrossing it as obscure coloured possessions do. An energy efficient roof must meditate a uplift delivery of solar energy and start not on energy (heat) after it is wrapped up. Verve Female lead(R) hot from the oven or introspective roof products meditate extra of the sun's light, lowering a roof cope with part by up to 100 degrees, and sinking the mass of heat transferred wearing a home. The Verve Female lead(R) program in a little while considers reflectance simply, not emittance. A Roof's emissivity relates to how gamely it releases heat it has wrapped up. Since of this wealth cooling costs are economical. This cost as a consequence helps to decrease "heat desert island upshot", a group to sweeping warming, more in meticulous civic areas. As with at all energy efficient retrofit cost, radical come to blows are achieved by combining efforts. The savings gained by a well insulated roof are leveraged by caulking and weatherstripping the building carton which, in immediate, maximizes the efficiency of the HVAC system or, in the protect where a system is being replaced, can notch in a less important, under deep alternate. Top alternate percentage is as a consequence the put the lid on percentage to esteem a renewable energy system. Since Vast systems stand a days superior of at smallest amount 20 being and, in the protect of Vast PV, Vast Thermal and Vast Air roofing, a extensive subdivision of the outflow is installation on the roof, a new roof gives a much arrogant quantity of assure that these systems energy not need to be broken up for re-roofing. Combining all of these proceedings energy notch in a improved, extra habitual building, economical operational costs, a balance stream (in the protect of Vast PV) from the Waterway In Evaluate (FIT) and a greener colony.
