Phofu lodge is remotely situated near the village of Kang in Botswana roughly +- 400km form Gaborone. This off-grid solar installation project was challenging as it was 1700km from home, remotely situated in the bottom left of the Central Kalahari National Park. Lots of sand, hot days and freezing nights! Specialized Solar Systems team of energy experts upgraded the original off-grid system with the installtion of following solar energy componenets: * 12 x 300watt solar panels * 24 x 1660amp 2v batteries * 1 x 5kw Victron inverter * 1 x 100amp MPPT[widgetkit id=94] After the upgrade, the complete off-grid energy producing system comprised of the following: * 36 x 250 watt PV panels * 12 x 300 watt PV panels * 48 x 1660amp 2v deep cycle batteries * 3 x 100 amp Micro care MPPT * 1 x Battery monitor * 3 x 3phase contractor switchesThe over all result would give Phofu Lodge the following energy requirements: * Battery storage capacity is at 150kw, daily consumption using only 25% is at 40kw per day. * Total PV power input +- 60kw per day at a 6hour charge time. Additionally, an AC system for the new tented camp as well as contractors camp was installed by the team.
