America needs reliable, cheap, safe energy. We advocate alternative energy sources such as solar and wind but are most adamant about geothermal, biomass, and nuclear. We feel that in order to keep these alternative energies cheap and reliable, the source should come from the grid as much as possible. Rather than having every home covered in solar panels, alternative power plants will provide the cheapest and most efficient ways of generating clean and renewable energy. We do also advocate, where possible, a distributed energy delivery systems, some of it off the grid to provide energy in the form of geothermal for example.

The purpose of the assignment is to help inform us on key issues facing America. The positions being advocated were assigned and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the students. We are debating against two other teams of students that have been assigned to defend different positions.
